Sustainability-- the most exciting topic for all environmentalists and the most recent impact on the fashion industry. After the current economic hardship and long-standing environmental crisis, designers and fashion companies must use their business skills to use old stock to their benefit. That is why the prediction for the coming year is that denim or fabric from old stock will be used in the creation of new products to improve sustainability and it happens to help that this trend looks pretty great!
Since I've been stuck inside my spending sprees have started to fill my closets more than ever before. I know I'm not the only one who has like 5 things in their chart at the moment. I decided to go through my closet to find some clothes that don't fit or are old. I found myself with 4 pairs of jeans that were either ripped or broken. As they would not be accepted at a secondhand store I decided to use parts from the older jeans to patch up the rips in the better pair of jeans.
Luckily there was a pair that had the hardware (the zipper and button) in good condition and they still fit in the waist -- a thing that is hard to find. Sometimes that isn't possible, in that case, you could use old denim on the side seams to add a fun detail, that can also add legroom. As for the hardware, a new coloured zipper or interesting button can also add more interest to your old pair of jeans.
Now you have created your new pair of jeans -- there is always room to add premade patches or embroider designs on the pockets or around the new denim patches.

Until next time,
