Bootcut pants do not flatter all bodies, but for those who want to know what shoes to wear, I am going to point out some rules to live by. These rules will help to ensure the shoe you put forward fits the outfit that follows.
Tall boots are absolutely out of the question. However, an ankle boot (heel or flat) or any style of sandal or flat would go perfect with nice bootcut outfits. From there the shoe depends on what look you are going for. Overall, any shoes that are below the ankle will have you rocking bell-bottoms, even if their not your style.
The rule of not wearing a taller shoe can go with straight-leg pants as well. This is because sometimes the pants can bunch up in an unflattering manner. Some people will wrap the loose fabric around their leg and put a tall sock over then taller boots. This is clearly more work, therefore I suggest to wear ankle or lower shoes with wider leg pants.
