Closet Clearout

For those of you like me who are feeling the sun and spring air roll in that means it's time to clean your space. The biggest challenge I have been tackling is my closet, so I have decided to add some tips that I have found helpful throughout this process.
Backwards hangers - This way seems somewhat confusing, but it is a great way to see what in your closet you actually wear on a regular basis. The more time you have to test it out the better, but even over a week I have noticed clothes I always pass by or try on and don't love them. The first thing you have to do is slowly turn all of the hangers in your closet backwards so that the hook of hr hangers is facing outwards. After you have worn something you put it in your closet correctly and at the end of the time, you can see the clothes you haven't worn. Of course, there will be special pieces that are made for occasions that do not come up all the time, however, it can help you to narrow down the clothes to look through to purge.
Box - Plain and simple find a spot to make a pile or a box of clothes that through days of putting together outfits you have found they do not feel you or they don't fit the way you want. After you have made a significant pile then you can go through and see what goes to your local thrift shop and what could possibly be sold on another resale site like Poshmark.
The hole test - If something has more than 2 holes or that same hole has had to be patched more than twice then that item should be thrown out. This can be hard to do especially when it has sentimental value. In that case, finding a way to repurpose the material can be a great way to hold on. For example make it into clothes for a stuffed animal, a pillowcase or throw blanket, etc.
After you have done this I suggested reassessing your clothes and make a list of some staples that you need to replace or items that you think would work well with your wardrobe. I have also put the clothes that do not fit my style or me anymore on Poshmark and I will be making an Instagram for those who live close to avoid shipping.
Until next time,
